Jane Green, Ph.D.

Jane Green is a founding partner in the Morley Research Consortium (MRC). The Consortium expanded from her original sole ownership of the Morley Research Foundation that was a non-profit foundation whose purpose was to facilitate the education, implementation and management of clinical trials programs. Dr. Green owned and managed the Foundation from 2001 until its transformation into the Consortium in 2010. Dr. Green has helped universities, hospitals and private practices both nationally and internationally with many areas of clinical research. She provides a very personal touch for her clients and projects.

She helped the University of Kentucky expand its Oncology Research Program into one of the first community based outreach programs back in the mid 1980’s. Dr. Green has trained physicians and coordinators from coast to coast and helped many hospitals and private practices create or improve their clinical research programs. She established the first community based Oncology network of private practice physicians in the state of Georgia in the late 1980’s and expanded into include physicians in the surrounding southern states. This enabled rural based patient’s access to clinical trials without leaving their homes. Additionally she is a recognized expert for Investigator Initiated Studies.

In addition to her work in Oncology, she has transitioned basic cardiology programs into stellar programs for several community based hospitals. She also helped turn around not profitable research programs in Urology, OB/BYN, Bone Marrow Transplant; Nephrology; and Pulmonary. She has extensive clinical expertise in more than twenty three different therapeutic areas. Dr. Green has worked with complex clients with Integrity Holds from the FDA or serious 483’s which adversely effected research centers in universities, hospitals, private practices and sponsor companies

Dr. Green has worked with the pharmaceutical and device industry sponsors for twenty five (25) years. She has a strong clinical, regulatory, and business background. She has experience monitoring and auditing both drug and device studies. She also has provided research compliance management and auditing for research programs as well as Institutional Review Boards. She also has provided site selection and training for sites throughout the US, and several international sites for industry sponsored studies.

Dr. Green was an original creator and founding Board Member for SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) and was one of the three original developers and trainer of the Duke University Clinical Research Training Program which was the first nationwide training program offered for clinical research coordinators/nurses.

Dr. Jane Green was nationally honored in 1991 and 1992 has having one of the Top Five Clinical Programs in America by the NSABP (National Surgical Association Breast and Bowel Project). She has been a speaker at many national meetings some of which include: SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates), ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals, DIA (Drug Information Association, Research Across America, National Pharmaceutical Council, HCCA (Health Care Compliance Association) and many university and hospital programs. She has been on the Boards of SoCRA, ACRP and the Susan G. Komen Breast Foundation. She has also provided education programs for the Georgia State Legislature, Texas State Legislatures, and the Florida State Legislatures.

Dr. Green did her undergraduate work at University of Kentucky, Clayton College, and finished her Masters and PhD in Natural Science at the Clayton College in Birmingham, AL.

Before joining the University of Kentucky, Green was an agent for the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in Washington, D.C., and served 7 years in law enforcement field. She combines her law experience with her medical experience to provide in depth consulting for compliance issues within the research world.

Donald Johnson, VP of Operations

Donny’s expertise and qualifications have encompassed the past 15 years in all areas of clinical research. He began his research duties as the Business Manager with the Morley Foundation’s parent company, American Medical Research Institute, Inc. (AMRI) which was an oncology site management organization that managed oncology clinical research projects in multiple states. He continued his research endeavors with the Walter B. Morley Research Foundation (MRF) which he was a part of for more than 10 years.

Donny has been the liaison between the clinical and financial teams regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and third party insurers. Mr. Johnson has also been involved with numerous audits ranging from those audits nationwide concerning clinical review, billing, and IRBs for pharmaceutical, device, universities, and private/public hospitals. He is also one of the key developers of corrective action plans for both research billing cycles and clinical oversight of research trials.

At MRC, Donny is responsible for formulating and implementing business strategies and operational plans related to MRC. He facilitates leadership in the establishment of rigorous service goals and objectives. He drives performance objectives and provides excellent customer service from a senior leadership perspective. He is responsible for customer and provider satisfaction, quality management, and establishes and drives to superior goals. He advises all senior leadership regarding all operational aspects of the business determines performance objectives/metrics and define tools to measure progress and ensures consistent achievement of business objectives. He participates in, and leads strategic efforts to meet business plan goals/secure new business.

His expertise is in regulatory, site development, auditing, and marketing/business development. Donny attended Clemson University and Reinhardt College where he has a BS in Business Administration

  Kevin Hogan, CPA, CFE, Manager, Financial Investigations, Clinical Research

Consultant to the Morley Research Consortium in the field of forensic accounting, Mr. Hogan is a retired Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. During his 29 year career with the FBI he received specialized training and participated in the prosecution of wide variety of fraud matters to include health care fraud. He has been certified in both Federal and State court as an expert witness. Since retiring from the FBI in 2004 he has served as a consultant in the field of financial investigations for a variety of clients to include the United States Congress House Appropriations Committee, The Florida Bar, CPA firms, and numerous attorneys.

  Penny Smith, RN, JD, Vice President of Business Development

Penny Smith joins Morley Research Consortium LLC as Vice President of Business Development. She brings valuable industry insight gained through 14 years of experience as a registered nurse, and 19 years as an attorney. Her law practice includes experience as in-house legal counsel to a global pharmaceutical company and a partner in one of the nations top law firms where she built a successful life science practice.

In her role as Vice President of Business Development, Penny is responsible for the identification, development and implementation of innovative, industry-specific business growth strategies. Penny also focuses her time on increasing brand awareness and the coordination of public relations efforts to ensure the continued growth of Morley Research Consortium.
